These replacement grommets are Honda OEM matched. This five piece set consists of two ovals, two rounds and one slotted grommet. They can be used as grommet replacement on: Honda Valkrie & VTX GL 1800 Gold Wing GL 1500 Gold Wing
My guess is some of these grommets will fit the ST.

Filters http://home.insightbb.com/~mmartin36/Filter.htm

My answers pertain to the ST1100 and not the ST1300.
Oil filter info can be found at [link].
I use the Honda part on my bike.
I use the K&N HA-0002 air filter. There is compelling info out there that K&N doesn't do as good a job as the original equipment Honda filter. My bike has 123,000 miles and doesn't require addition of any oil during an 8000 mile vacation, so I am satisfied with the K&N. It is said that the original Honda air filter can be washed and re-used, but I've never tried that.
I use a glass body fuel filter purchased from JCWhitney. Purolater makes a similar one. I don't know the number, but it has 3/8" inlet and outlet.

cockpit shots http://community.webshots.com/user/ghnl1961

There are some 'cockpit' views of my ST1100 in my WebShots 'ST1100 Farkles' album.
The dash shelf was then covered with velcro - I had purchased it used and it came like that. Now it has the velcro (heavy duty) on the right side. I stick an E-Z Pass unit there for trips up north (where they charge money to use the roads). On the left side of the shelf I have a mount for a Garmin StreetPilot.
Whit Brown recently scammed me outa some hard-earned money for a used Escort radar detector. I will likely velcro it to the dash shelf. I will farkle up a short plug for 12V power so I can keep the cigarette lighter cord in the cage (so I can use the RD in either vehicle).
I mounted a (lighted) 3-switch panel
in the left side gray panel (above my knee while seated) to control the aux lights, grip heaters plus a spare for farkles TBA. I think this is the approximate location of the ABS & TCS lights/switches on models so equipped. A Datel voltmeter is in the right side panel.
I have a Rio-Volt SP250 FM/CD/MP3 player in the tank bag. The SP250 has remote for on/off, volume, etc that I velcro to the top of the clutch reservoir. I mounted a 12V outlet in the tank bag to power the SP250. It has an SAE connector (so I can easily unplug and remove the tank bag if needed).
I recently added a set of LED turn signal arrows (< & >) to the mirrors. Should add a bit of visibility while on the highway. My only disappointment is that they don't flash at full brilliance while at idle speeds (my bike is a 1991 with the 28 amp alternator).
I also purchased (used) a Honda back rest. My wife likes the feeling of security it adds.
Guess I need to update my WebShots album...

Instrument Cluster Bulbs http://www.trucknvans.com/

>That’s great information, I never thought of changing color. Can these
>colored 194 bulbs be found at local auto parts stores?

They are sometimes called "Mood Lights". They're not cheap, but the red makes an ST's dash a very pleasant thing to look at at night (less eye fatigue). You can also check out wht these folks have: [link]. They have interesting accessory bulbs. They even have translucent colored "thimbles" to cover the bulbs to give them "colour".
And BTW, before anyone asks, *NO*! The LED versions of the #194 bulbs DO NOT work well in the ST dash....I know, I tried them. They are very very dim (directional LEDs won't work).

12volt contacts

http://www.harwin.com/downloads/files/catalog/HOTSHOE.PDF

http://www.a1electric.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=CONT&Category_Code=

Is there any chance that he could be referring to a "hot shoe" "style" connector? It has contacts that slide into each other when re-installed that make the electrical connection and can be used over and over!
Most when they hear 'hot shoe' think of a place where they plug in their flash attachment to the top of the camera. That is a hot shoe! The same theory has given over to the automotive business in sliding and closing situations. They close electrical circuits when they are in the usable/working position. Such as supplying electricity to a set of bag lights that would disconnect by removing the bag and re-connect when the bag is re-installed. The idea scenario would be to have the male blades on the bag and the female on the bike, so that when unplugged they wouldn't be likely to short out.
Shows some electronic hot shoes for severe use. Some with prongs, some with blades, and some with spring loaded contact points.

I installed a Sigma BC1200 this way just before WeSTOC 01/AlaskaSTOC01, 45K ago. One of the beST farkles ever, bang for the buck. Unbelievably, it's still on the original battery, as is the little Sigma light.
One nice thing about having the Sigma unit: its big current speed digits, right up in my main line of sight, preclude me having to get tri-focals in order to read the OEM speedo (which I haven't looked at in years).

Lubrication

<<Is it ok to use the Honda Moly 60 paste for the drive flange?  Or should I really use the 3% grease as specified?>>

Let me introduce myself. I am Dale Isley and just picked up my first ST1100 today. I've been around bikes my whole life, but out of riding since married 10 years ago. At first it was buying a house, then starting a business, now I'm back (with an addiction needing satisfied!). 2001 standard, burgundy. Thanks to Dave Wooster for taking an hour or so of his time giving me the finer points of care for the bike and pointing me toward this list site.
Moly paste and moly grease are different substances and should not be substituted for each other. If you have moly paste in a higher concentration than what is called for, using it should be fine. The concentration should be thought of as a minimum concentration. However, grease has different properties even though the 3% concentration is far below the 40% paste called for or the 60% paste you have.
If you have the paste, it is far easier to purchase the grease. Any heavy truck shop should have it. I own a light duty diesel performance shop and have tubes of Schaeffers grease that contains moly. If you can't find it at your local NAPA or heavy truck shop, look up Schaeffers web site and grab a dealer in your area. He will probably give you a tube.

I only have experience with the last two - Ron Ayers & Service Honda. In both cases I received the items I ordered within a reasonable time. Service Honda does not have an on-line parts fiche. Ron Ayers has them for the later model ST1100's (and the ST1300, I think). Parts Fish (at PowerSportsPro) has the parts fiche but the Honda part numbers are not as easily accessed. IIRC, you can click on the parts you are interested in and the Honda part number comes up later.
I am not certain about how the color codes are integrated into the OEM part numbers. Thus far I have only needed to order non-body panel items (knock wood...).

I wanted to wear more conspicuous clothing and couldn't find what I wanted so I contracted to have reflective vests made, and I've sold some. Last year's product was black mesh with silver 3M striping, intended for those who didn't want to look garish when they were riding, but some people have asked for more visibility, so we worked up a new vest which is fluorescent lime green mesh with the same 3M retroreflective stripes. ST1100.ORG - There are 3 sets of ST1100 microfiches on STeinar's premier ST1100 website:
http://www.st1100.org/
Go to: ST1100 Information | Microfiches (ST1100)
STeinar made it real simple for us to log-in. Use "stoc" for both log-in and password.... HOWEVER, the models/years of the microfiche sets have yet to be identified, there is no index, and there are NO PART NUMBERS.
-----------------------------
However, there are other on-line microfiche sites WITH PARTS NUMBERS, noun/nomenclature, and prices. And some sites without microfiches but with good prices and online price look-up pages if you have the OEM PN.
I recommend using:

http://www.powersportspro.com/
Click on "PartsFish", sign up, and add your yr/model STeed to your new account in "My Garage". It's free/no spam, and you can add four more motorcycles to your account.
After you're signed up, the next time you visit PartsFish you can go direct to the list of your registered bikes' fiches with:
http://www.powersportspro.com/Partsfish/Login.asp
There are two ways to get an OEM part number using PartsFish once at a fiche/schematic page:
1. Open a text file (Notepad, WordPad, Word, etc.) to put PNs info into. Now right-click on the "ADD TO CART" button for the desired part and select Copy Shortcut. Then right-click in the text file and Paste it there. The OEM PN is in the text between "ISBN=" and "&". Delete the extra text, and then drag-n-drop or type the part name in. Or open a second text file and drag-n-drop the info there.
2. Left-click on "ADD TO CART" for all the parts you want. At this point you could go through all the steps that "Proceed To Checkout" entail, but if you're not actually ordering do this: go back a few pages in your browser to your My Garage page and click on "SHOPPING CART" in the upper right. Your parts will be there with the Honda OEM PNs shown. Be sure to zero all the quantities and "Update Cart" before you leave the page/site.
If you already have the Honda PN, you can skip the log-in, fiches, etc. and go directly to this page to see if they carry it, and check their price:
http://order.powersportspro.com/oempartsearch.asp
At this point you'll have to do the math yourself to figure your actual discounted price. The STOC discount won't be shown during an on-line order until the very end of the process, AFTER you've already hit the "Submit" button. Be sure to enter the STOC discount code in the 'discount' block at the bottom of the last page before 'submitting'; or to mention it during phone orders. Some LiSTers have reported that PartsFish has matched a price from another source.... worth asking about.
Free UPS shipping on normal size/weight orders over $50. It's $5.50 for orders less than $16, and $10 for those $16-$50. On-line order tracking feature on site.

This is another on-line site with ST1100 microfiches but they use their own proprietary PNs, and their prices are almost always higher than PartsFish or Service Honda:

Service Honda's microfiches don't include the ST1100 yet, but if you have the Honda OEM PN you can check their generally excellent prices by going directly this page:

http://servicehonda.com/gsearch/gsearch.asp

You must enter the *exact* Honda PN (incl dashes) into the search window. To actually order on-line, cut-and-paste the PNs and Service Honda prices into a temporary text file (or open both pages separately) so you can enter the info into the order-form page:

https://secure.servicehonda.com/

Shipping is a straight $8 per order.

BTW, they have a nice page that explains everything you might like to know about Honda VIN numbers:
