Chicago 2010

The Field Museum

Sue gets top billing for her 10th anniversary.

Anyone with a rack like that hanging at home?

More info on that monster deer.

The colors grabbed my eye

What's in a label?
The Adler Planetarium

Future astronauts?

Future astronauts?

Looking cool in 3D.
Navy Pier

The views from the Ferris wheel were great, particularly so on such a gorgeous day.

Fun on the swing.

Holey Cow!
John Hancock Observatory

On the left (big rectangle), Jardine Water Purification Plant, the world's largest.
To its right, Navy Pier.

More amazing views.
The Navy Pier AeroBalloon goes up 350 feet on a tether.
A blustery day on the Illinois bank of the Mississippi River.
Yeah, I know, not Chicago.
Kids got to meet their cousins,
and eat Whitey's ( three times in 4 days.
The Museum of Science and Industry

Many interactive exhibits.

I grew up in farm country, but the kids got into a tractor in downtown Chicago.

Big city deer.
Not the most impressive Hyatt Regency.
Soldier Field
(closest covered parking to Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium (didn't take any photos), and Adler Planetarium)

I hadn't given Soldier Field's history much thought before.
Many Americans need to read this and take it to heart.

Cloud Gate (aka the orb) at Millennium Park
That's us, the Chicago skyline, and the sun in its reflection.

Wendella Boat Tours
Came highly recommended, and I repeat the recommendation.
City views from the Chicago River (, just inside the locks.
More while moored in the lock.

Navy Pier looks great from the big lake.

Great views of the city you can only get on a boat on Lake Michigan.

After a evening at Taste of Chicago ( in Grant Park, walking the Lakefront Trail  back to the car when that sailboat caught my eye.
Some more Soldier Field.
